چکیده

was pain free and walking well on a pylon before receiving a definite prosthesis. Examination of the amputation specimen (Fig. 1) showed an illdefined red tumour lying deep to the Achilles tendon, tumour nodules mingling with adjacent adipose tissue. A number of separate tumour masses were also present in both superficial and deep fascia, the most proximal being attached to the tibia 12 cm above the lateral malleous. Histological examination of the tumour showed regular polyhedral cells grouped around blood vessels (Fig. 2). There was evidence of tumour infiltration in many areas and an occasional suggestion of vascular invasion. Mitoses were very infrequent. Special stains showed mast cells in considerable numbers in and around the tumour. Comparison of this tumour with known examples of compact glomus tumours left little doubt that this was a glomus tumour but displaying histological evidence of malignancy.

Quantitative Motor Examination in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Patients

1.1 Purpose Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a neurologic disorder that causes three groups of progressive symptoms that are very disabling: gait and balance problems leading to falls, urinary incontinence, and dementia. This condition is in urgent need of clarification, because while the diagnosis of NPH is very difficult to make with confidence, the gait and postural instability caused ...

Comparative analysis of the gait disorder of normal pressure hydrocephalus and Parkinson's disease.

OBJECTIVES Comparative gait analyses in neurological diseases interfering with locomotion are of particular interest, as many hypokinetic gait disorders have the same main features. The aim of the present study was (1) to compare the gait disturbance in normal pressure hydrocephalus and Parkinson's disease; (2) to evaluate which variables of the disturbed gait pattern respond to specific treatm...

Motor evoked potentials in the preoperative and postoperative assessment of normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Motor evoked potentials and central motor conduction time (CMCT) were examined from both upper and lower limbs in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus to find a predictor for the success of shunting procedures. The hypotheses that walking disturbances are due to pyramidal tract compression as well as the possibility that the upper limbs are affected subclinically in these patients were a...

Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Presentation with a Large Pseudomeningocele

Background and Importance: This interesting case is about the presence of normal pressure hydrocephalus and a large pseudomeningocele at the same time after 13 months of posterior fossa surgery. Although the occurrence of a pseudomeningocele following posterior fossa surgery is not so rare, such a late large pseudomeningocele development with signs and symptoms of NPH after 13 months of surgery...

A Case and Literature Review of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus in Mixed Connective Tissue Disease

Normal Pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is characterized by gait apraxia, urinary incontinence, and dementia. Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is an autoimmune connective tissue disease that has never been reported to cause NPH. Our patient was a 67-year man with a one-year history of gradual worsening gait and balance, urinary urgency with urge incontinence and decreased short-term memory. P...
